Day 8: Feb 10th 2006 Desserts around the World
Sleep! Blissful, wonderful sleep! I’m not even sure what time we got up today because we didn’t ask Mickey to call us. We just slept until we were done. We got ready and went to the bus area. We decided to skip breakfast all together because it was late and we had lunch plans at the Liberty Tree Tavern at the Magic Kingdom.
Funny story: Before we left on vacation I bought Mark and I travel toothbrushes. You pull the toothbrush out of its case, flip it around and then snap it into the case the other way and the case becomes the handle so you can brush. All trip long Mark kept complaining that he hated the toothbrush because it was too small. I thought he meant the head of the toothbrush itself was too small… until we figured out today that he was never snapping the brush into the holder and was trying to brush with just the 2 inch long tiny toothbrush with no handle. LMAO! Oh I love you Marky! Sorry we didn’t figure out what you were complaining about until the trip was almost over.

This was a daily ritual. The packing of the backpacks to make sure we had everything we needed for the day. Matt packs his on his bed and Mark is packing ours on our bed.

Matt’s tower of dirty clothes. He didn’t fold them, or put them in a bag… he just let the mound grow. LOL!
Once we got to the MK we decided to give the Haunted Mansion at try again. It was the same as before. Disneyland’s wins. Then we headed to the Hall of Presidents. I thought it was pretty good. Mark and Matt were bored. I mean sure, it was no Country Bear Jamboree but really, what else can compare to that? Maybe if George W Bush wore a top hat with a raccoon skin on top it would have been better. LOL! After the show we dodged birds and headed over to Liberty Tree Tavern. Despite the fact that there had been a very recent protein spill right in front of the doors the food was very good. We had a sweet waitress names Cheryl Lynn who spoke very fast and kept asking us about Disneyland. For lunch I had the Tri-Corner sandwich with a salad with strawberry vinaigrette. Mark had New England Pot Roast and Matt had the tri-corner sandwich as well and clam chowder.

While I missed New Orleans Square I thought Liberty Square worked well in the Magic Kingdom.

Waiting for our food at the Liberty Tree Tavern.

Matt gives his New England Clam Chowder “two spoons up”!

Yes, it’s lowbrow humor but its what we’re all about. We all thought this sign was hilarious!
After lunch we decided to take the raft to Tom Sawyer Island. Mark had been wanting ot ride the rafts since he works that attraction at Disneyland too. Wheeee! We got to play in the fort that Disneyland has deemed unsafe for guests but WDW still says is A-OK. I still think this is because on the whole, people who visit WDW must be smarter than people who visit Disneyland. Or at the very least… less likely to sue.

We’re going to TSI. Ahoy!!!

We get to ride the Huck Finn. Mark keeps telling us it’s weird because they go “backwards”. I just believe him because I can’t tell the difference.

Which one of us is Huck Finn and which one is Tom Sawyer?

We’re ready to explore!

We decide to explore a dark cave first. Matt and I are very afraid because its very dark.

Turns out… I had every reason to be afraid! This is Matt covering his face because he’s laughing so hard. Do you know why he’s laughing? Because he farted. Next to me. And it echoed throughout the cave. I swear… we can’t take him anywhere!

Mark seems unfazed by the fart.

OH MY GOD! Look out Matt! The scary wall has been angered by your butt tuba and is going to eat you!!

We made it out of the cave alive!

I’m not too sure what this look on Mark’s face means but I’m going to guess it means “Beth, I’m so glad we came on this vacation and I can’t think of a better person to be here with.” Awe… thanks Mark!

After spelunking through the caves we relax on the river for a little while.

What? I just wanted to see what was in there…

Oh god… Matt! Did you fart again?! No more Liberty Tree Tavern for you!

Look! It’s Mark and his WDW doppelganger! Yep… this CM’s name was Mark too and he worked the rafts. Crazy! But Mark pulls off the costume better. I think its because he has a nice ass. LOL!
We took some more pictures when we got back from the island and then we went to stake out a spot for the Share a Dream Come True parade. It was good but shorter than I thought it would be. I really liked the music but the first float with the fake “Walt” on it seemed a bit sacrilegious to me.

Matt and the spitting Tiki’s that were not spitting.

Perhaps it’s just me but I think this is the most disturbing character I’v ever seen in a parade. I just kept thinking, “Please don’t come near me!”

The villains float was awesome!

Everyone cheer for Chip!

Wendy looks like she has a bun in the oven. For shame, Peter!
We rode the TTA and then decided to go back to the hotel… for a swim. I’m not too sure who came up with that idea but I know its wasn’t me. It was a bad idea. The sun was no longer shining on the pool by the time we got back to the hotel. The water was cold but after you got in it wasn’t that bad… for the first 5 minutes. And then I was freezing. We stuck it out for about 20 minutes but then I couldn’t take it anymore and the guys made me (yes me… the girl! And the one shivering in her bikini!) get out and get all our towels. Jerk faces! LOL! You both are going to hell in a fashionable handbag.

Ready to go swimming. We should have just stayed all warm and toasty in the hotel. And this is the only time EVER you will ever see me in a bathing suit on the internet. It was done to “keep it real” but you may now forget you ever saw that horrible sight.
Once we dried off and warmed up we went to Epcot for Extra Magic Hours. We got our wrist bands and rode Spaceship Earth! Drag Queens and BBQ sauce! Terry San, you are one cool dude. We wandered into the World Showcase and tried to decide where to eat. The boys told me to pick where to eat so I picked Morocco and then they tried to change my mind. But they were good sports and eventually we made it to the Tangerine Café in Morocco. I’m so glad we went there. That was probably the best counter service food ever! And the guys really liked it to. Matt had the lamb sandwich, Mark had the rotisserie chicken and I had the lamb platter with cous cous!
We watched Illuminations again and I still felt the same about it. Beginning… YEAH! Middle… Zzzzzz. Ending… YEAH! The guys wanted to take night pictures around the World Showcase so we decided to do that AND eat desserts around the world. That was the best idea ever. We decided to make it a tradition but next time we go we need to start earlier because some places were closed already.

We decided to start in France.

I critique Matt’s artwork.

Our dessert that we had was called Nid A’Beille. It was very good.

Gorgeous night picture of France by Mark.

Next was Morocco… those are the nicest looking bathrooms on the outside ever!

For dessert it was Baklava. Mmmmm!

There was no dessert to be had in Italy but we did get this awesome shot of the three of us.

A Jackass and a Donkey. LOL! I’m just kidding. But that was too good of a joke not to make. Matt poses with the burro. I think he’s dancing…

Germany at night!

This is how we’d look if we were drinking beer in Germany at night!

China! All these awesome night shots are by Mark.

Finally our last stop of the night was Norway. Matt and I shared the School Bread. It was so good! Mark is not a fan of coconut or vanilla (and this had both) so he opted for an apple Danish. Matt and I kinda forgot we were taking pictures of the food and dug our forks into the dessert a bit early.
It was very late at that point and we knew we had to be up early to fit in as much as possible the next day because it was our last day. Sad! We all said “goodbye till next time” to Epcot and we headed back to the Pop.

Our last picture of Epcot until we return.
